Blood gives Testimony

I have been donating plasma recently as a way to bring in a little more income. My finances are a wreck due to the divorce and I’ve been paying my tithes like God has asked me to but things feel so…bottomless.

Like I’m staring down a bottomless pit of dollar signs and each one that wiggles it’s way deeper into the basalt and sediments brings another wave of prayer over my head as I try not to panic. God’s got this right? Yes. We can get past all this right? Right. We’re not going to lose everything out from under us right? Maybe…It depends on God’s will…I’m trying to remain fluid to that without fear. There is no fear in perfect love.

So I’m freaking out…yeah I know…to my mom and she says “Mark (my step-dad) says there’s something you’ve done or are doing that you need to repent for.” Uh okay…what? You got me!  She said, your plasma donations. You’re doing it with the wrong motives. It should be for helping people, not for money. God wouldn’t expect you to harm your body just to fund your life. God thinks you are far more precious than that.

So I started thinking about blood. Jehovah’s Witnesses are thoroughly against anything that is related to blood…why is that…so I did a word based search in the Bible. The word Blood appears 392 times. It must be pretty important.

What struck me was in Genesis where Cain kills Abel due to his better offering because it came from his heart, it’s mentioned that his blood “cries out” from the ground. Kind of a creepy thought.

Genesis 4:10 The Lord said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.

In Genesis 37:22 Joseph’s brothers said:
“Don’t shed any blood. Throw him into this cistern here in the wilderness, but don’t lay a hand on him.” Reuben said this to rescue him from them and take him back to his father.

And in Genesis 42:22
Reuben replied, “Didn’t I tell you not to sin against the boy? But you wouldn’t listen! Now we must give an accounting for his blood.”

And then in Exodus when we see Passover, every home that had the blood smeared on the door posts was passed over. Why? Because in the Heavenlies…Blood speaks. It’s called on the witness stand and gives a testimony on behalf of it’s owner as well as the person who shed it. As death passed over those houses it spoke out in favor of the Israelite people standing on the inside.

Another reason we’re not supposed to consume the life-blood of ANY creature
Deut 12:23 But be sure you do not eat the blood, because the blood is the life, and you must not eat the life with the meat.
Because once we have consumed it, it has the ability to give testimony against us…the equivalent of being red-handed.

Exodus 24:8 Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.”

The blood on the people gives testimony to God (our Holy Judge and God) and says these people are protected. Blood has a voice! Which is why the sacrifice of animals was put in place. It’s a proof of purchase. When you have a proof of purchase that is required to get a prize on a cereal box and you send it in, they BELIEVE you! They KNOW with CERTAINTY that you DID buy that box of cereal because here is your proof in their hands. That proof speaks to the one asking the cost of said prize and says “YES! The price has been PAID! I hold the proof of that purchase!”

Which is why the blood of Jesus is so important. Because once we accept Him, we invite him into our hearts, God then receives the testimony of the Blood of Jesus on our behalf which speaks of our INNOCENCE because JESUS was innocent! Praise God! The Blood of Jesus is a proof of purchase off a cereal box that WE NEVER PAID FOR! Someone shipped it in with our name on the envelope…and we get the prize in return.

Blood is a witness on the stand. It speaks on behalf of the person it provided life to, as well as the person who shed it and whether it was intentional or not.  I’ve made a promise to no longer donate Plasma…

It’s a personal thing 🙂

~ Blessings,

  1. As I read this I thought of these verses from Hebrews 12:18-24, hope it speaks to you too! Love, Kris 18For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire and darkness and gloom and a tempest19and the sound of a trumpet and a voice whose words made the hearers beg that no further messages be spoken to them.20For they could not endure the order that was given, “If even a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned.”21Indeed, so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I tremble with fear.”22But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering,23and to the assemblya of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,24and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
